Brazil: First virtual preparatory meeting - Stakeholders discuss topic priorities

On September 22, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) together with stakeholders of the German industry and relevant QI institutions made plans for the QI future with Brazil. Jointly, they discussed topic proposals for the Work Plan 2020/2021, to be signed during the Annual Meeting in November. 

 

The Preparatory Meeting of the Annual Meeting of the German-Brazilian Working Group Quality Infrastructure was held virtually on September 22, 2020. Hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the event gathered stakeholders of the German industry and relevant QI institutions to jointly discuss topic proposals for the Working Group’s Work Plan 2020/2021, to be signed during the forthcoming Annual Meeting in November.

 

The Preparatory Meeting offered an opportunity for private sector representatives to shed light on concrete challenges and regulatory barriers faced within their businesses, addressing issues such as cybersecurity standards for industrial automation and control systems, digitalised post-market surveillance systems, and risk-based conformity assessment. Representing sectors as diverse as eletromedical devices, industrial machinery and toys, the stakeholders reiterated the importance of GPQI Brazil and the new work routines with the Brazilian Ministry of the Economy (ME) for the cooperation on QI and trade faciliciation.

 

To be held virtually on November 25, 2020, the Annual Meeting of the German-Brazilian Working Group Quality Infrastructure represents the next step within the bilateral cooperation on QI, when BMWi and ME will jointly sign the Work Plan 2020/2021.
